DID YOU KNOW THAT SOME ENGINE REPLACEMENTS ARE PREVENTIBLE?
There is no debating that engine replacements are one of the most costly repairs associated with vehicle maintenance. Good news! Many of these costly repairs can be avoided with a preventative maintenance plan.
Common Causes of Engine Replacement/Rebuild:
Overheating: When the cooling system fails, it can increase engine temperatures to an unsafe level. Causes of increased engine temperature can include: bad thermostats, faulty cooling fans, coolant leaks, and bad water pumps. It is critical that cooling system concerns be addressed immediately, otherwise, you could be faced with a blown head gasket or cracked engine.
Detonation: Abnormal combustion inside the engine can increase pressure and temperatures within the combustion chamber to unsafe levels. This can actually cause interior parts to melt or even crack the engine block. Concerns like bad ignition timing, faulty sparkplugs, and high engine temperatures can cause your engines air/fuel ratio to change. One of the signs that this is taking place is an engine knocking sound and should be addressed immediately.
Improper Lubrication: Probably one of the most common causes of engine failure is improper lubrication. Putting off an oil change or ignoring even the smallest oil leak could end up causing you an entire engine replacement. If you’re looking to extend the life of our vehicle, consider keeping up on those oil changes and addressing oil leaks the minute you notice them.
